Privacy Policy

ExpoScale AI is an experimental WhatsApp-based educational assistant designed to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning and science-fair project exploration. The current test is restricted to invited adults aged 18 or older. It is not yet open for use by schoolchildren.

Information processed

When an authorised participant sends a WhatsApp message to the test number, the service receives their WhatsApp phone number, message text and related technical message identifiers or delivery information supplied by Meta. The message text may be transmitted to Google's Gemini AI service to generate a reply. Meta processes WhatsApp messages under its own applicable terms and privacy notices.

Purpose and legal basis

Information is used to deliver responses, operate and troubleshoot the pilot, prevent misuse and evaluate whether the educational assistant works. Participation is voluntary. Participants should not send sensitive personal information, passwords, school records or information about children.

Service providers and international processing

The pilot uses Meta's WhatsApp platform, Cloudflare for webhook hosting and Google Gemini for AI-generated replies. Processing may involve infrastructure outside South Africa, subject to the relevant providers' arrangements and applicable legal requirements.

Retention and security

The service does not intentionally maintain a separate long-term database of conversation histories in its current design. Technical logs and information handled by third-party platforms may nevertheless be retained under their respective settings and policies. Access to the pilot is restricted to authorised test participants, and credentials are maintained separately from public website content. No online system can guarantee absolute security.

Sharing and rights

Data is shared with the service providers described above as needed for operation, and may be disclosed if required by law. Participants may request information about their data or request deletion of data under the operator's control using the contact address below. Requests involving records retained independently by Meta or Google may also require contacting those providers.

Terms of Use

ExpoScale AI is currently an experimental service available only to invited adult testers aged 18 and over. Its responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate. Users should independently verify technical, educational and safety-critical information before acting on it. Do not submit sensitive information, confidential documents or information about minors. The operator may suspend or discontinue the pilot or change these terms as the service develops.

Data Deletion Instructions

To request deletion of personal information held under ExpoScale AI's control, email okonkwoemmy007@gmail.com with the subject “ExpoScale AI Data Deletion Request”. State the WhatsApp number used for testing and the nature of your request. Do not include passwords or identity documents in your initial email. We will respond to explain what information is held, what can be deleted, and any information retained for legal or technical reasons. Deleting the WhatsApp conversation on your own device does not necessarily delete provider-side records.
